About Us
My name is Katie Szabo
My name is Katie. I was born in Budapest, and raised in Hungary but now live in the wonderful Kincardine, Ontario since 2018. Cooking and baking are a passion of mine but letting people taste my traditional homemade delicacies gives me even more joy and fun. Every meal prepared by me has been tested, approved, and always praised by my 4 grandkids, the whole family, the neighborhood where we live, and many friends near and far away.
I follow my mother's well-proven, old-fashioned recipes, which include high-quality flour, sugar, seeds, nuts, jams, and dairy products. I am proud of myself for being able to maintain the quality I grew up with.
All of the items on my menu are prepared in a clean, health-inspected, and certified kitchen by Grey Bruce Public Health.
I follow all health and safety plus legal regulations as well as holding my food safety handler certificate, and keep this training current.

Our Team
Meet George
My husband George, now retired, is my right-hand man in the kitchen, helping me prepare all of our authentic European goodies. Not only is he the perfect sous chef, but he also gives me more inspiration on how to add more to our menu.
His roots trace back to Yugoslavia, and over 30 years ago, he made the journey to Canada. Despite growing up in a Hungarian community, the local culinary scene introduced him to a diverse range of dishes with unique names. Embracing his Balkan heritage, he still refers to my cabbage rolls as "sarma," my burgers as "Pljeskavica," and many of my baked delights as "kalach." The term "Kolach" or "kalach" traditionally signifies bread found in Central and Eastern European cuisines.
Now that he is retired, he relishes the opportunity to spend more time in the kitchen, creating delightful culinary experiences.
My Little Helpers
Meet the dynamic duo that adds an extra sprinkle of joy to my kitchen adventures – my two grandsons! As my cherished little helpers, they bring boundless enthusiasm and a dash of playfulness to the heart of my culinary creations!
My two little princesses can not help me in the kitchen quite yet, however, all of grandma's recipes will be kept safe for them with all the secret ingredients.
Our Kitchen
Nestled in the heart of our home, Katie's European Kitchen is a place where generations of family recipes are cherished and passed down. This kitchen is more than just a space to create delicious meals; it's a culinary haven where the rich flavours of Hungarian cuisine unfold. Each dish we make is crafted with love and care, with locally sourced ingredients. Not only do we cook in our kitchen, but we also have our homemade smoked meat, ham, and sausage place, with fresh meat obtained from a certified local butcher shop.
Katies European Kitchen has been inspected and certified by the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
